19th Century French Napoleon III Period Gilded Mirror is a splendid example of the genre, with bold naturalistic embellishments melded with the timeless Louis Philippe framework to create a new style.  The crown is festooned with a Rococo-inspired stylized shell and foliate design with intertwined leaves creating a visual feast for the eyes that allows one to see through the design for three dimensional intrigue.  The design cascades down to the shoulders which are tipped in cornucopia forms tipped with bell flowers.  Egg & dart trim molding surrounds the exterior of the frame, with an interior bordering of beading adjacent to the actual mirror.  At the bottom, complementary foliate and shell motifs emanate upwards to provide definition to the base.  The frame fully surrounds the mirror, making the design compatible for wall hanging, or for placement atop buffets, consoles, commodes or mantels.  Gold finish is remarkably well preserved, and the silvering is also protected so your family can enjoy decades of pleasure!
