19th Century Italian Louis XIV Hand-Carved Oval Mirror is a magnificent feat of sculpture, with incredible full relief celebrating the longest serving monarch in European history!  Hand-carved from solid walnut, it features a brace of winged cherubs reclining on boldly scrolled, arched pediments that flank a centerpiece depicting a shell, a symbol of sea power.  Fabric swags are held by each cherub that drape across the centerpiece to tie the scene together.  Just below the scrolled pediments appear cornucopias bursting with flowers both from the mouth as well as intertwined along the base, wrapping around the curvature of the oval frame, then transitioning into foliate sprays and more florals that flank the centerpiece at the bottom, consisting of a crest motif festooned with scrolls, florals and foliates and centered with a beautiful winged angel's bust.  The panels of the framework have been veneered with mahogany to create a wonderful contrast with the gilt finish.  A new mirror glass with protective panel has been installed from the rear, and the mirror is ready to hang!
