Antique Italian Baroque Giltwood Mirror is a work of the sculptor's art that also happens to be a mirror!  The main mirror is beveled and newly silvered to provide decades of enjoyment, and is surrounded by a spiral rope trim which projects out into the room slightly creating a three dimensional effect, with the flats of the projection also fitted with the original mirrored glass for a uniquely Italian flair.  The most eye-catching feature, however, is the magnificent carved detail that projects out from the top and cascades down the sides to almost halfway down the mirror frame.  The detail depicts a foilate crown with sprays and flowers atop graceful scrolls, with shell designs wrapping around the upper corners and continuing down with the foliate and floral design to embrace the framework.  All the adornment is hand-carved from solid wood as is the custom in Italy, then given a splendid gold finish which has achieved a lovely patina over the decades only adding to the visual appeal and impact of this diminutive, yet impressive work of art!
