Antique Italian Giltwood Mantel Mirror ~ Wall Mirror is an ideal choice over the fireplace, on a buffet or commode, or just free-hanging on any wall!  Sculpted from solid wood as is the traditional method in Italy, then given a gold finish, it displays a subtle rendition of the Baroque style with a bold shell crest atop a boldly arched crown which cascades down to the main mirror section below.  The crown and mirror both feature central mirrors surrounded by framing mirrors, with the main central mirror beveled for even more opulence.  The tradition of this design originated centuries ago when glass could not yet be fabricated on larger scales without great expenditure, therefore mirror sections were combined to increase overall size.  The boldly scrolled exterior framework and crown contrast with the interior framing sections which are sedate by comparison, for a splendid visual effect!
