19th Century Parisian Hand-Forged Wrought Iron Door and Transom, Beaux-Arts Period

An impressive architectural antique of grand scale, this hand-forged wrought iron door and transom were created in the late 19th century for a distinguished Paris townhouse. Crafted during the Beaux-Arts period, the design reflects the elegance and precision of master metalsmithing at a time when even functional elements were elevated to works of art.
The composition is beautifully balanced, with a strong architectural framework softened by intricate scrollwork, geometric motifs, and finely drawn ornamentation. The upper transom features a refined, symmetrical design, while the door itself is richly detailed with rhythmic ironwork and a central cartouche bearing the original owner’s monogram—an enduring mark of its bespoke origin.
Every element was shaped by hand, revealing the skill and intention behind each curve and junction. The surface has developed a natural aged patina, adding depth and authenticity while enhancing the character of the piece.
Originally designed as a street-facing entrance, it carries a commanding presence and offers remarkable potential today—as a statement entry door, a garden focal point, or an architectural installation that brings history and craftsmanship into a contemporary setting.
A rare opportunity to acquire a true piece of Parisian architectural heritage, where artistry and function are seamlessly joined.
