19th Century French Louis Philippe Gilded Mirror features a flair in detail that began to appear at the end of the period towards the beginnings of what today is called the Napoleon III period. Although the architecture is the same as we see during Louis Philippe's reign, the amazing detail is abundant in the relief work around the entire framework. The outermost bordering is a variation of Greek coin, with a beveled separator then a repeating acanthus foliate design for the main border, another separator then a bordering of beading immediately adjacent to what appears to be the original mirror. The original backing that protects the silvering on the mirror is stamped with the maker's brand: Verres a Vitres. What a wonderful find!
