19th Century French Louis Philippe Gilded Mantel Mirror features a flair in detail that began to appear at the end of the period towards the beginnings of what today is called the Napoleon III period.  Although the architecture is the same as we see during Louis Philippe's reign, additional detail has been added to embellish the top shoulders and the halfway point up from the bottom.  The embellishment depicts floral sprays with foliates in fine relief.  The multi-tiered bordering shows vestiges of the original gold leaf finish, and the subtly complex tiers beautifully frame the original mirror which shows wonderful signs of aging that add so much history and character.  The original backing that protects the silvering on the mirror is also mostly intact.  What an incredible find!
