19th Century French Louis Philippe Period Gilded Mirror is a timeless example of the genre, tailored in design yet exuding a subtle elegance that cannot be denied! The classic squared base and rounded corners of the top shoulders is a constant theme in the style, and this example features a slightly more intricate molding detail with a spiral, barley twist motif alternating with foliate detailing. A rope motif envelopes the entire mirror, with a tier of beading adjacent to the mirror itself, generously sized and perfect for creating a lovely reflection of the remainder of the room. Most of the original gilding is intact, as is the plank backing used to protect the silvering of the mirror.
Circa 1840s.
