19th Century French Louis Philippe Period Giltwood Mantel Mirror is proof positive why this style has remained continuously popular for over 175 years!  Tailored architecture and gently rounded upper shoulders create a stately, restrained elegance.  Look closely and you'll see the gesso showing through the original gold leaf, with an embossed pattern visible in the molding depicting floral and foliates in a chain link style border.  A line of beaded molding separates the frame from the mirror which boasts its original silver, complete with aging signs visible if you look carefully.  The original silver is also protected by the original wood planks on the back side guarding the integrity of this instant family keepsake through the centuries.
