19th Century French Louis Philippe Period Giltwood Mirror is a classic example of the genre ~ considered one of the most successful styles to emanate from France in all of history!  The tailored, classically-inspired architecture is enhanced with gold leaf over subtly contoured molding, with a beaded trim surrounding the actual glass of the mirror itself.  Note the gold "stripes" which are overlaid gold leaf, signs of the original finish.  Survives also with its original mirror and back boards which protect the silvering.  Louis Philippe is the monarch responsible for saving the storied Palace of Versailles which we consider one of the wonders of the world.  A wonderful find!
