Italian carvers have long been celebrated for transforming wood into frames of exceptional movement and grace, and this antique mirror beautifully reflects that tradition. Hand carved during the early twentieth century, its tall, elegant form is animated by sweeping curves, pierced foliage, scrolling ornament, and a dramatic crest of deeply carved acanthus leaves.
A distinctive two tone finish combines warm gilding with softly bronzed passages, creating depth throughout the carving and emphasizing every contour of the frame. The shaped mirror plate follows the fluid outline of the surrounding woodwork, while the sculpted lower ornament provides a graceful visual balance to the elaborate crest above.
