Grand 19th Century French Napoleon III Period Giltwood Mantel ~ Floor Mirror is a magnificent expression of the Rococo style, one of the many historical styles that were revived during the reign of the last Emperor of France!  Standing over six feet in height, it can be used on the floor or atop a mantel with a high ceiling.  The frame feature intricate naturalistic contours and decorative elements drawn from nature.  The top of the frame is shaped in a gentle arch and features the most detail and depth of motif.  The gilded finish has achieved a lovely patina over the century and a half, and the mirror appears to be original.  A new backing was installed prior to our acquisition to protect the original silvering.
