18th Century Framed Oil Painting on Wood Panel of Wachau, Austria is a superlative hillside view of the fabled city as it would have appeared over a century ago.  The artist has taken cues from master pastoral painters and added his unique perspective plus intriguing cloud formations to provide intriguing visual appeal.  Coloration remains vibrant from the rich sky blues to the lush greenery in the foreground, inviting the viewer to participate in the moment and enjoy the scenery, perhaps to open up a picnic basket?  The paint and coloration are so well preserved in part due to its being painted on seasoned wood which was hand-chamfered into the rustic original frame.
