19th Century Framed Oil Painting on Canvas is a striking composition ~ capturing a windy day along the part of land just off the coast that is not directly adjacent to the sea yet still receives the characteristic weather.  The dominant feature of the work are the trees in the left foreground, and it is immediately obvious they are subjected to strong winds on a constant basis.  The rolling landscape in the rest of the composition shows vegetation clinging to the sandy soil.  Just as striking, the artist has captured the ominous, turbulent sky overhead which gives an unrelenting impression.  Surviving in its original frame, it shows one minor professional repair visible only on the back side.
