19th Century Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Ferdinand De Prins (1859-1908) is a delightful example of the romanticized landscape, with the artist capturing a scene deep in the forest of a woman walking home from market with a basket on her arm.  De Prins uses both realism and impressionistic techniques to create depth using color and shading, and has literally created a sense for the viewer that one is there, witnessing the scene in person!  De Prins uses two methods to lure viewers into the canvas, the water feature on the left and the winding country road on the right, and the water feature is most intriquing by reflecting the lush greenery of the composition illuminated by the filtered light coming through the overhead tree canopy.  De Prins painted in a very traditional and romantic style. He often painted scenes in Borgerhout, Deurne and Kontich, Belgium. He was a member of the art circle, Eigen Vorming in Borgenhout.
