Antique Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Albert Caullet (1875-1950) is a charming work by the artist in vivid earth tones creating wonderful definition and contrast.  Caullet invites you into the scene along the dirt road that passes by wheat freshly harvested, and a shepherd tending his flock, with the quaint village surrounding a small church in the middle of the composition, appearing aside a lake with rolling hills becoming misty in the distance.  Caullet has also used the fall foliate of a tree that is out of the composition to the right, yet lending a framework of golden tones on the branches to give definition to the view of the scene.  Reframed in the last 20 years or so.
Albert Caullet was a Belgian painter who was born in Kortrijk in 1875 and died in Schaarbeek in 1950.  He was a painter, draftsman and watercolorist.  His oeuvre consists of still lifes, village and city views and landscapes.  His style can be called impressionistic or romantic-realistic.
