Antique Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Victor Waegemaeckers is a wonderful example of the interior painting genre that flourished in the 19th century giving us insights into the daily lives of those living in a bygone era.  The artist has used a post-impressionistic technique and soft pastel colors in his palette to create a lovely subdued effect.  Note the incredible mastery of light and shadow with the morning sun beaming through the window draped with a delicate lace.  The owner's collection of everyday items, rustic furniture, and family keepakes creates a home-like warmth that is a snapshot in time.  One can almost smell the coffee!  It's a snapshot of a morning ritual that survives the ages.  Mounted in its original intricately detailed frame lavished with foliates and shells, with gold finish that subtly accents the earth tones of the work.
