Antique Framed Oil Painting on Panel by Dieudonne Jacobs (1887-1967) is a splendid work inspired by the sun setting over the Mediterranean coast.  Jacobs has masterfully rendered the scene with the rocky coast interacting with the ripples of the waves which also reflect the waning daylight.  Note how the artist has created texture with bold brush strokes, creating a contrast between the water, sky and land, all expressed in subtle earth tones while capturing the azure blue of the waters in the area.  Recently re-framed and matted.
Dieudonne Jacobs was born 1887 in Liège and spent his life as an artist between the Belgian Ardennes and the French Riviera, especially between Spa and La Garde (present day Toulon). He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, and became known for his inimitable impressionistic style.
