Mid-Century Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Simone Mareschal is entitled Herstal, 1932 although it was created after the war.  The artist engaged the post-impressionist style with a restrained palette and intriguing use of texture.  Painter, watercolorist, draftsman and portrayer of urban settings, Mareschal also produced portraits and works of sculpture, and was known for creating delicate and intimate works.  A student of the Academie de Liege from 1948-1955, Mareschal also worked in Brussels.  Survives in its original frame.
