Vintage Framed Oil Painting on Canvas of Still Life signed Laenen is an incredible interpretation of the genre, with an intriguing blend of red, white & blue wildflowers for an unexpected patriotic effect!  Laenen has rendered the scene with a variety of forms and textures, with hammered brass pitcher being used for the vase, a brightly printed scarf and a straw hat that the gardener just placed on the table after collecting the flowers, and an earthenware mug to quench the gardener's thirst.  The transition from dark to light gray in the background plus the hint of polished wood on the table only add to the scene.  Although the subjects of the painting are incredibly realistic, the background appears to have been executed in an impressionist technique for an intriguing blending of styles.  Survives in its original frame.
