Art Deco Period French Sculpture of Tigers on Polished Slate Base depicts the ageless concept of the survival of the fittest.  One cannot be entirely sure if it is part of the courting ritual, or a juvenile challenging the patriarch of the pride, but it clearly illustrates the savagery of nature.  Each animal is cast in spelter and given a splendid multi-hued yet subtle bronze finish.  The base consists of a slab of polished slate, with the larger animal on a slightly higher, angled stone giving him even more advantage in the face off.  The generously sized base is accented with two insets of marble.
