Pair 19th Century Spelter & Marble Mantel Urns ~ Cassolettes are the epitome of late Belle Epoque neoclassicism, and were meant for decorative purposes only.  The classic Greek form has been elaborated by French styling, with elaborate handles and elongated spouts with lids.  The French style is continued with ribbons appearing to hold gardening and musical motifs embossed on each side.  Norsemen appear at the base of the handles as an interesting element.  Octagonal beveled marble bases are supported by cast feet, with the entire metal work given a patinaed bronze finish.
