19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Vanity Stool with Needlepoint is a superlative example of one of the many neoclassical revivals that continue to occur with regularity in the design world!  Finely crafted round seat frame includes beaded and egg & dart molding detail, interrupted by acanthus rosettes on the plinths to which the tapered and fluted legs are mounted.  Three uprights extend upwards to meet the gallery-style wraparound low seat back, complete with urn-shaped spindles and acanthus plumes on the ends, with scrolled armrests and a back support carved with acanthus flourishes.  Upholstery is completely comprised of hand-knotted needlepoint in a study of various flowers that totally captivates the senses.
