19th Century French Louis XVI Needlepoint Armbench ~ Vanity Bench is a stunning example of the combination of master furniture crafters with tapestry weavers, in this case specialty weavers who utilized painstaking effort to create images with colored wool thread in both the needlepoint and petit point techniques to create depictions of three exquisite floral bouquets!  The mixture of weaving techniques produces a sharper image in the fabric, and creates a variance of texture that highlights the artistic workmanship.  Each of the three are individual works, making this bench even more alluring.  The framework is nothing to ignore, crafted from old-growth fruitwood in the neoclassic style so favored by Louis XVI and his queen, with rectilinear architecture enhanced by subtly flared armrests.  Hand-carved embellishment includes beaded trim surrounding the accents of ribbon tied in bows, acanthus rosettes, and acanthus plumes enveloping the tops of the tapered and fluted legs.  Truly a timeless design, it will bring a smile to your face for many decades to come!
