Antique French Louis XV Hand-Painted Needlepoint Footstool

Antique French Louis XV Hand-Painted Needlepoint Footstool features the elegant lines of the style with contoured aprons all around fitted to gracefully scrolled cabriole legs.  The framework was first sculpted with continuous fluting, then carved with acanthus leaf and floral motifs, then highlighted in pastel earth tones, with the overall painted finish achieving a fine level of patina over the decades.  The work that went into the needlepoint tapestry seat is quite remarkable, with more floral patterns in a variety of earth tones set on a camel colored background, creating a visual accent that is quite demure, and easily compatible with most any interior decor.
