19th Century Imari Jardiniere with Bronze Mounts was produced for the lucrative European market that burgeoned during the 1800s. Using copper and cobalt-derived colors for their complex glazes, each vessel was hand-painted then fired and finally fitted with intricate cast bronze furniture that includes in this example, handles shaped like dragons and feet shaped like mythical creatures. Intricately cast base and top rim also add to the visual feast, celebrating the complex and colorful work of art between. Even the inside of the jardiniere has been meticulously painted, making this a splendid display piece without anything inside!
