19th Century Italian Neoclassical Hand-Carved Walnut KING Headboard ~ Mantel is a great choice for those who want a decorative headboard but without all the fuss of a bed frame.  Perfect for articulated beds or those requiring special mattress or foundation specifications.  Simply mount on the wall where you would like it, and you're finished!  It's also is a great choice for over the fireplace, above a cased opening, or anywhere a decorative panel is needed.  A triple tier crown with acorn pendant finials overlooks the three segments of the work, topped with a frieze of scrollwork, shell and foliate panels framed by full relief cameos of lions' heads.  The lions' heads are positioned over boldly scrolled and carved pilasters, with the two interior ones being traditional acanthus scrolls over hanging fruit, while the two outermost depict angels with folded wings over hanging fruit.  The pilasters provide a framework for the elaborately carved panels which feature mythical creatures and foliates, with copious molded detail pervading the design.
