19th Century Country French Liegoise Confiturer ~ Cabinet was hand-crafted from dense, old-growth indigenous white oak by the master artisans of Liege. The storied region has centuries of history in the creation of fine hand-made goods of all types, but is most known in antique circles for its furniture. This example is also of an intriguing design, ideal for narrow spaces while still exuding a refined Country French charm thanks to its hand-carved embellishment. Usually one door affairs, this example boasts a brace of doors not just carved, but hung with brass hinges and fitted with brass key guards. A contoured and carved apron with scrolled feet rounds out the package below, while a full width drawer fitted with a brass key guard finishes out the top. Just enough surface and storage to make use of a space between windows, a corner, or other such types of spaces, with less than a foot and a half in depth added to the appeal!
Circa 1870s
