19th Century French Renaissance Walnut Cabinet is a rare find, indeed!  Truly a unique piece, this cabinet was obviously custom ordered to specification for a particularly discriminating client.  Sculpted from hand-select, sumptuous French walnut, it features a double-beveled solid walnut top that overlooks the artistry of the facade below.  At the top appears a grizzled old lion's head whose mouth serves as the drawer pull, and who is flanked by heraldic scrollwork and folaite sprays in glorious relief.  On each rounded corner are rosettes, then a horizontal tier of molding to separate the drawer tier from the cabinet tier below.  The magnificently sculpted cabinet door is flanked by rounded, carved cornerposts, and features a Renaissance feast for the eyes, with bounty of the earth emanating from a Grecian urn including wheat, pomegranates, and other fruits and flowers sculpted into a single panel of walnut in full relief.  Below the urn appears a stylized foliate composition whose beauty is difficult to adequately describe in words.  The door opens to reveal surprising shelved storage, making it as functional as it is beautiful to behold. Support is provided by two boldly carved, very realistic-looking lion's paw feet.  Fine molded detail and paneling on the sides complete the work.  Truly a special piece for the master of his or her domain!
