19th Century Swedish Painted Corner Cabinet is one of the most charming examples of the genre we've come across!  Hand-crafted from solid old-growth pine, it features a neoclassical overall architecture, with finely molded crown and mitered corners, and is designed to take advantage of what is otherwise usually dead space in a room, brightening things up with the combination of wonderful earth tones and stylistic naturalism of the decorative theme.  A single full length door provides access to the three shelves and floor of the cabinet, making it ideal for storing small items, or items such as stemware, glassware or cups & saucers.  The old swivel latch is rustic but effective, and the interior was stained and varnished providing a carefree interior surface.  Bordering patterns, flowers and foliates are the theme of the hand-painted decorations, appearing on an olive background  with lighter greens, cerulean blues and copper reds adding to the visual feast.  The unusual scrolled legs which are extensions of the mitered corners have even been painted, and frame the contoured apron centered with a wildflower motif.
