Antique French Louis XVI Cabinet is an intriguing example of ingenuity on the part of its creators.  Utilizing fine quarter-sawn oak, the casework was created with raised & recessed panels all around, topped with a crown trimmed in egg & dart molding, underneath which appears elongated Greek coin on all three sides, interrupted only by rosettes on the cornerposts which appear above the fluting which frames the pair of doors.  Each door is lavished with in interesting canopy motif that resembles an inverted classically-styled urn, with drapery and ribbon motifs accented with flowers and foliage, all rendered in relief above the raised panel below.  Delightfully intricate cast brass key guards mate with the external brass barrel hinges to provide easy access.  The interior features three shelves and a partition to help keep things organized, while a full width drawer below the cabinet, fitted with brass ring pulls, adds convenience.  The entire cabinet is supported by four tapered and fluted legs with a tailored apron trim.  The finish is natural giving it a lighter tone perfect for today's more casual decors.  It's a wonderful piece that provides lots of storage and a big display surface on top while taking up a minimal footprint on the room's floorplan.
