Impressive in scale and rich in medieval-inspired detail, this solid oak Gothic Revival cabinet bookcase combines generous storage with a handsome central display area. The tall upper doors feature traditional linenfold carving, a decorative motif designed to resemble the graceful folds of hanging fabric. Linenfold panels originated in late medieval Europe and became closely associated with Gothic furniture, paneled rooms, and ecclesiastical interiors.
Across the lower doors, pointed arches frame heraldic shields embellished with fleur-de-lis motifs.
