Location: Dallas
Rare and beautifully scaled, this Louis Philippe period marble top concierge counter brings the refined character of mid 19th century France into today’s home or commercial setting. Elegant and simple in the best tradition of the period, it combines a richly figured flame mahogany case, a shaped gray marble surface, and an original hand forged gallery rail that gives the piece its unmistakable Parisian presence.
The flame mahogany has a warm, expressive grain, framed by clean molding that reflects the restrained sophistication of the Louis Philippe era. The marble top adds a graceful finishing note, while the original gallery rail is especially remarkable, with turned supports, ball finials, and scrolled ends. Its survival from the middle of the 19th century makes it an extraordinary feature and gives the piece a rare sense of authenticity.
The working side offers excellent function, with drawers for storage and an open central area that allows the piece to serve beautifully in a modern setting. Today it could be used as a dry bar, a hostess counter, a stylish coffee bar, a boutique reception piece, or the front of a beautifully appointed half size bar inside the home. The functional back allows it to stand prominently in a room while offering useful space for service, preparation, or appointment details.
A rare Louis Philippe period piece with wonderful presence, combining French history, elegant simplicity, and modern versatility.
