18th Century Spanish Walnut Sofa Table ~ Console is a poignant testament to the skills of the craftsmen of yesteryear.  Fruitwoods harvested from old-growth trees that no longer produced fruit made excellent material for furniture making across Europe, and the Spanish artisans had their own particular style and technique to add to the equation.  Here we see solid planks for the top, dovetailed into each side support which consists of a lyre-shaped framework with subtle scrolled form.  Stretchers across each side support add rigidity, and are connected with boldly scrolled hand-forged wrought iron connecting to the center underside of the plank top for elegant reinforcement to the design.  Ideal in an entryway, behind the sofa, or in a hallway or landing area!
