19th Century Rustic Carpenter's Bench is a fascinating look into the history of furniture making.  In days of yore, carpenters and cabinetmakers had to fashion most of their tools, and this example is a wonderfully preserved working model!  Meticulously hand-crafted from solid planks and timbers of old-growth oak and sycamore, it features a generous work surface fitted with both a vertical and a horizontal vice on one end.   There are also holes for use with friction clamps.  Note the sturdy stand itself, with full mortise & tenon joinery affixed with shims so it can be tightened every so often, good to soldier on.  Still functional after all these decades, it will make a marvelous hall adornment, sofa table or rustic console.
