Early 19th Century French Directoire Mahogany Center Table is a stunningly well-preserved example of the neoclassic-inspired design that occurred in France right after the demise of Napoleon Bonaparte.  The tailored architecture of the Empire design was retained, but bronze ornamentation and other fanciful decorative accents were eliminated creating an understated elegance that has inspired many furniture makers for centuries!  In this example, exotic mahogany was imported from the Americas to create a naturalistic visual appeal that fully complements the graceful lines of the design which features a large circular top, clean apron and a support pedestal that dramatically flares out to the three corners of the tripod base with only molded detail and subtle paw feet as architectural adornment.  Turned bun feet complete the look.
