A fine late 19th century French Louis XV table, crafted in richly toned walnut and crowned with its original marble top. This piece reflects the revival of 18th century French styles that flourished during the second half of the 19th century, when master craftsmen once again embraced the fluid lines and sculptural carving of the Louis XV period.
The apron is beautifully carved with flowing foliate motifs and subtle scrollwork, executed with precision and depth. Each leg follows the natural movement characteristic of the Louis XV style, with carved accents that enhance the silhouette without overwhelming it. The cross stretcher below adds stability and visual balance, meeting at a carved central rosette.
The original marble top provides contrast and refinement, its natural veining complementing the warmth of the walnut. Solid, elegant, and thoughtfully proportioned, the table offers versatility—serving equally well as a center table, an end table, or a refined accent in a sitting room or entry.
An exceptional quality example of French craftsmanship, embodying the grace of the 18th century reinterpreted through the skilled hands of late 19th century artisans.
