19th Century French Louis Philippe Period Buffet a Deux Corps ~ Cabinet was designed with a restrained architecture to perform a valuable storage function for a prosperous family.  Hand-crafted using techniques handed down from generation to generation, dense, old growth woods were used to ensure longevity.  Pegged mortise & tenon joints appear over the entire piece, even on the back side with its rustic rough-hewn panels.  The design features a crown with the characteristic curves overlooking the upper tier defined by rectilinear panels and subtle borders of molding.  The center stiles are attached to the right door so when opened, both top and bottom storage provide unencumbered access with shelves that amplify organizational efforts.  Just below the top doors is a tier of three drawers for flatware and cutlery, each accessed with brass knobs.  The top tier of the bottom section conceals a full width drawer perfect for linens of all kinds. Note the old original lock mechanisms which add charm.  Curved pediment feet provide support.
