Antique Liegoise Louis XIV Two-Tiered Buffet ~ Cabinet is a simplistic expression of the style, yet one that retains a sophisticated elegance thanks to the master craftsmanship of the storied artisans of Liege.  Four distinct cabinets across the width appear on two levels, with the lower level slightly stepped out from the upper tier.  The upper tier boasts a magnificent center arch design that crowns the two center doors, flattening out to the corners above the outboard doors.  The crown molding consists of multiple tiers of carefully sculpted trim, complementing the subtly scrolled raised & recessed panels of the cabinet doors below.  Even the side panels are adorned with the same style multi-layered panel design for splendid continuity.  Doors above and below are hung with exterior brass barrel hinges to allow ease of access, with matching brass key guards to protect the keyholes.  The two upper center doors are also subtly recessed with a concave framework only adding to the visual appeal.  All four doors open wide to reveal cavernous storage, with double adjustable shelves in each compartment providing almost unlimited combinations of placements.  The lower tier is accentuated by convex and concave corner treatment with a step-front center section in contrast to the recessed pair of doors above, and features three drawers over four cabinets, all with complementary trim and panel designs.  Even the base exhibits unusual flair with a complex scrolled design that follows the contours of the intricate casework above, even continuing down each side to the back of the piece which is constructed of solid chamfered planks of oak, making this one of the sturdiest pieces in our entire inventory!
