19th Century Rustic County French Pine Coffee Table was hand-crafted from old-growth yellow pine, which is actually harder than some woods classified as "hardwood".  The thick, solid planks on top ensure it will shrug off decade after decade of daily use.  Thick posts were used as legs, with a slightly tapered lower section for a subtle style flair.  Legs are joined to the solid plank apron all around with double pegged mortise & tenon joinery, and one side of the apron is fitted with a convenient drawer, as well as a cubby hole with drop-down flap-style door that even has a lock.  This was undoubtedly to keep secure certain items that the owners didn't want to be discovered by toddlers or grandchildren.  The richness and natural beauty of the wood is enhanced with the natural finish, making this an ideal choice for any casual decor!
