SaleAn Italian Mid Century Modern illuminated coffee table from M.I.M. Roma, designed as sculpture and light source at once. A square top rests on a tapering plinth in the form of an inverted pyramid, so the table appears to float just above the floor. At its center, a circular frosted glass panel glows softly from within, set into the ivory finished frame and protected beneath a square plate of clear glass.
M.I.M., Mobili Italiani Moderni, was a Roman furniture house known for bold architectural forms and refined finishes. Italian designers of the 1960s and 1970s embraced the optimism of the space age, bringing illumination directly into furniture and treating light itself as a design material. The clean geometry of the base and the lit disc above reflect that spirit of experimentation.
Placed before a low sofa, the table becomes a striking centerpiece by day and a warm ambient glow by evening. Pair with travertine, bouclé, and polished chrome for a gallery quality living room, or let it anchor a minimalist loft or collector's interior.
