18th Century French Louis XVI Period Armoire in Stripped Oak commands a stately presence in any room!  Boldly molded crown with mitered, recessed corners presides over the tailored panels of the bonnet, separated from the casework below with a tier of molding detail.  Even the mitered corners are paneled all the way to the base.  The doors are intriguing, with raised panels carved with egg & dart on the edges stopping to allow maximum room for the chrysanthemum rosettes on each corner of each panel.  The center stile is attached to the right door to allow unfettered access to the interior, and is embellished with a single cast brass key guard.  Doors are hung with outboard brass hinges which further facilitates access.  Inside, the original turned wood hanging knobs are there, along with a closet rod that was added later to "modernize" the interior.  Below are two cubbys for shoes.  An elegant base molding with teardrop feet completes the look.  Note the raised and finely molded panels on the sides, as well.  The level of hand-worked traditional craftsmanship is also evident by viewing the hand-hewn planks of the back side.
