An exceptional 18th century French Régence period armoire from the Loire Valley, this piece represents a remarkable era of Country French craftsmanship. Hand-crafted from solid white oak, it carries the strength, artistry, and enduring beauty of provincial France, where furniture was made not merely for a season, but for generations of daily use.
The graceful arched bonnet, shaped paneled doors, cabriole feet, and richly carved ornamentation reflect the transition from the grandeur of Louis XIV toward the more fluid elegance of Louis XV. The façade is alive with movement, from the sweeping crown to the deeply sculpted door panels embellished with scrolling foliage, shell-inspired motifs, and layered moldings. Every carved detail speaks to the confidence and skill of 18th century French artisans.
The solid white oak has been carefully stripped and beautifully restored by our staff, allowing the pale, time-softened grain and centuries of patina to come forward. The finish gives the armoire a softer, lighter presence while preserving the depth and character of the old wood. Inside, it has been fully outfitted with four shelves, making it practical for today while honoring its original structure and historic integrity.
A magnificent survivor from 18th century France, this antique armoire carries the presence of hundreds of years of craftsmanship, use, and preservation. It is a true Country French treasure from the Loire Valley, ready to serve and be admired for another generation.
