19th Century Country French Armoire from Normandie in Stripped Oak represents the definition of casual elegance!  Carved from the boldly molded crown to the apron below which is supported by scrolled legs with escargot feet, it glorifies a neoclassical interpretation of the celebration of nature.  Overlaid laurel begins at the top, underneath which appears spiral ribbon, all over the magnificently executed crown featuring a basket bursting with flowers, flanked by wildflower sprays and framed by finely detailed egg & dart trim.  The scrolled apron below mirrors the wildflower sprays, while each cornerpost is carved with the same overlaid laurel trim providing a framework for the exquisite scrolled doors.  Acanthus plumes in a variety of configurations are joined with Greek coin overlay, more wildflowers, and an overlaid laurel trim down the entire door stile.  Original steel hinges and key guards complete the look on the outside, with original forged lockwork mechanisms inside for even more charming detail.  Note the pegged mortise & tenon joints all around, and the solid chamfered panels on the back side.  Doors open wide to reveal three shelves and four surfaces, easily configurable to accommodate a flat panel TV if so desired!  The finish has been gently stripped using our proprietary non-petrochemical process that reveals the natural beauty of the wood while retaining the patina acquired over the past century and a half.
