19th Century Country French Armoire from Normandie in Stripped Oak is a beautiful expression of the cabinetmaker's art!  Crafted from dense, old-growth indigenous oak, it features the classic motifs and techniques for which the region has been famous for centuries.  The crown garners the most attention, with fine molded detail centered with a full relief sculpture of a basket brimming with wildflowers.  Fully laden grape vines meander across the bonnet on each side, leading the eye to the finely carved rounded cornerposts.  The doors are individual works of art, with Greek coin bordering, foliates, grapevines and florals adorning the elaborately scrolled framework mated to the raised panels intricately contoured to follow the frames.  At the center of each door another astounding work of the sculptor's art appears, next to the large brass key guards which immediately flank the full length center stile which also happens to be carved with complementary motifs.  Even the scrolled apron below is beautifully carved, and centered with a sunflower rosette, flanked by scdrolled legs with rosettes instead of the traditional escargot motifs.  Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary method that retains the natural patina and beauty of the wood, this spectacular piece also opens to reveal cavernous storage in the bargain!
