19th Century Country French Provincial Armoire ~ Wardrobe is the perfect answer for those who need just a little more closet space! Originally invented to be a person's entire "closet space", the word armoire is derived from the French word for armor back in medieval times, which provided a place to literally store one's armor. We've since used the piece for normal clothing, and this example uses adjustable shelves to stack clothing, although our expert in-house staff can also install a hanging rod if you so desire. Two exterior drawers at the bottom add storage opportunities, as well. The design combines a rectilinear architecture with timeless French scrollwork as adornment, primarily exhibited in the doors, but also appearing across the apron. A bold crown molding presides on top, and the doors are hung with full-length steel barrel hinges, accented by the steel key guards and drawer pulls. The drawers are also separated by a stylized chrysanthemum motif serving as a rosette. Scrolled legs with escargot feet complete the look. Hand-crafted from solid quarter sawn oak to last for generations!
