19th Century Normandie Armoire Du Marriage was a traditional gift to a newly wed couple that dates back hundreds of years in France!  This one is a particularly wonderful example of skilled rural craftsmanship wed with select indigenous white oak to create a master work that was literally designed to last for centuries!  The bold crown appears over the bonnet which has been lavished with wildflower sprays in relief, centered with a bold sculpture of a basket brimming with fresh fruit symbolizing fertility.  Directly underneath is a corbel atop a full length fluted pilaster reeded with wheat motif separating the doors which are the primary visual focal point.  The tops of the doors feature projecting acanthus plumes nestled atop boldly scrolled molding adorned with foliate sprays, forming the top framework for the upper door panels.  Exquisite carvings of love birds appear on the center traverses the separate the upper from the lower door panels, positioned adjacent to the finely detailed steel key guards.  The remainder of the design is quite tailored, with three raised & recessed panels on each side, and a straight base molding and legs.  Doors are hung with three steel barrel hinges each, allowing them to open wide making for easy access, and allowing the next owners of this magnificent keepsake to utilize the interior for an unlimited amount of purposes!  Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary methods by our expert in-house staff to reveal the sheer beauty and natural patina of the old-growth wood and create a softer, more casual appearance.
