Early 19th Century Country French Wedding Armoire from Normandie in Stripped Oak is a magnificent example of hand-crafted and artistically sculpted furniture!  Crafted from dense, old-growth indigenous oak, it features the classic motifs and techniques for which the region has been famous for centuries, influenced by the neoclassic architecture of ancient Greece and Rome.  The crown immediately captures the eye, with multi-tiered dcarved detail.  Scrolled acanthus leaves and wildflowers in relief adorn the bonnet, centered with a pair of lovebirds.   Down each front corner appears a rounded, fluted column with wheat carved into the flutes.  The doors between are individual works of art, with more acanthus leaves and cornucopias as well as flowers and symbols of gardening, all adorning the elaborately scrolled framework mated to the raised panels intricately contoured to follow the frames.  Large brass key guards complement the triple brass barrel hinges that were used to mount each door, with the center stile attached to a door to allow unencumbered access to the voluminous storage within.  A hanging rod is there along with a single shelf that can be mounted in three different locations, and the rod can be removed to use the piece for housing a large flat panel TV.  Even the scrolled apron below is beautifully carved, and centered with an urn flanked by drapery swags with ribbon and tassels with more floral sprays and acanthus leaves to finish the look.  Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary method that retains the natural patina and beauty of the wood, this spectacular piece also opens to reveal cavernous storage in the bargain!
