Country French Louis XVI Buffet in Stripped Oak, handcrafted in the 18th century, brings together the grace of neoclassical design with the warmth and soul of rural French craftsmanship. The form is beautifully balanced, with clean architectural lines, a molded crown, tapered legs, and a richly carved façade that gives the piece both presence and quiet refinement.
The two upper drawers are carved with diamond shaped panels and fitted with elegant cast brass pulls, while the lower cabinet doors are the true poetry of the piece. Each door is centered with deeply carved stylized foliage, floral garlands, and scrolling motifs, framed by rosettes, beading, fluting, and classical detailing. The apron below continues the decorative rhythm with Greek inspired scrollwork and vertical flutes, adding depth and movement without overwhelming the purity of the Louis XVI form.
Built from dense old growth oak, this buffet reflects the traditions of French cabinetmaking during the late 18th century, when neoclassical taste found its way from formal interiors into provincial homes through the hands of skilled regional artisans. The result is a piece with both sophistication and authenticity, elegant enough for a dining room or entry, yet relaxed enough for a country French kitchen, living space, or collected interior.
The buffet has been painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process to reveal the pale natural beauty, texture, and patina of the old oak. The doors open to provide generous storage, making it as practical for modern living as it is beautiful to behold.
