18th Century Country French Louis XVI Period Buffet in Stripped Oak is an expression of neoclassic style representing the revival of the style during the reign of Louis XVI and his queen Marie Antoinette.  Hand-crafted from solid old-growth French oak, it features a rectilinear architecture that includes mitered corner posts, and a subtle step-front center section that creates a pilaster effect.  Bold molding detail defines the top edge, the drawer tier, and the base.  Raised panels on the sides and cabinet doors are also finely molded for a timeless effect, with bas relief carvings on the door panels depicting whimsical baskets of wildflowers with birds.  Foliates and wildflowers appear on the mitered corner posts, as well as foliate swags on the drawer facades and center stile, with beaded trim molding as a finishing touch.  Doors and drawers open wide to reveal capacious storage.  The original back panels have been replaced.
